Time to Invest in an Electric-Themed Private Number Plate?

Whatever your politics, the good news for the car industry from The Queen's Speech was the push for driverless cars and more charging points in petrol stations to help drive the country towards safer, greener roads.

Which means the prices could soon be rising for any private number plates along the likes of "ACDC," "V0LT," "WATT," "AMP" and so on.

Public trials are set to roll on roads across Milton Keynes and Coventry this year, with Autodrive UK tests taking place at a proving ground track in Nuneaton for advanced technologies. These include connected-car technology being showcased in the likes of new Range Rover models that provide features like emergency vehicle warnings to alert drivers to the imminent arrival of ambulances or fire engines. Intersection collision warning systems caution against moving off into dangerous situations at junctions, while in-vehicle signage provides clear alerts for queues ahead, slippery road conditions and other hazards.

Hopefully, when all of these systems are standard on cars, then those unsightly gantry systems appearing on the current generations of smart motorways like the M3 can all come down again, as we won't need to rely on them. That will help make our roads look a little less cluttered, just one of the smaller benefits we might eventually see in the future.
If these trials overcome the many challenges of British roads, then the acceptance of self-driving cars with smart technology will happen sooner rather than later. Trials in other countries have already racked up hundreds of thousands of miles and, despite a fatal accident involving a Tesla, they have shown remarkable progress.
Even if you are not confident when it comes to relying on technology to drive your car, the combined push for electric cars and smart technology will creep into most vehicles over the next decade. But it could be generations before we are ready to give up the familiar comfort of the steering wheel and gear stick. Even so, expect to see plenty more charging points as the number of hybrids and electric vehicles grows rapidly, all helping to nudge us towards this smart, driverless future.

Richard Hammond's Latest Prang Puts a New Marque in the Spotlight

Car makers love being featured on the old Top Gear and new The Grand Tour show,

allowing them some free advertising for their latest super or hypercar. But the bosses at Rimac Automobili, the maker of the Concept One, will be shaking their heads after Richard Hammond turned their million dollar electric racing car into a burnt-out heap.

The Croation company is definitely getting plenty of press, but perhaps not quite how they imagined. The Rimac Concept One is a 1,088 horsepower electric model with four engines, one for each wheel, which use an all-wheel torque vectoring system for stability and handling. Capable of 220mph, with a 217-mile range, each of the company's models is built to a highly limited number to maintain exclusivity, making Ferrari and Lamborghinis look distinctly common in comparison.
Richard Hammond's latest prang puts a new marque in the spotlight
The company first emerged at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in 2011 and has only produced around 88 total models, presumably with some very exclusive number plates. There's a smaller racetrack-focused Concept S for those who want even more electrical performance. It is a partner of the Formula E world championship to promote green cars, Rimac also provides components for other high-powered cars like Koenigsegg and Aston Martin.
Whatever the company does next, it will always be haunted by the tagline of "makers of the car that Richard Hammond crashed", but for those who can afford them, it will do little do dampen enthusiasm around this most limited of supercars. With the company operating in a highly secretive manner, we don't know what the next vehicle off its tiny production line will be, but we can look forward to plenty of more stories and coverage than it would have otherwise received.
For reference, Hammond had been driving the electric car for a few days before hand, so should have been used to its distinct performance and handling characteristics. Even so, questions are being asked about the show, which might have to be delayed as he recovers from a fractured knee, and the attitude of the stars to their driving, particularly their love of inherently dangerous mountain roads where this accident took place.

The Mustang has always been a firm favourite with the muscle car fans ever since its inception in the early sixties. It was based on the Ford Falcon of the same era and found instant success. It was named the Mustang because the designer John Najjar had a love of the fighter plane from World War 2 although there have been rumours that it was named by Robert Eggert who was a researcher for The Ford Motor Company. At the time Robert was also a horse breeder and was coincidentally reading a book called Mustangs. We will never know the real truth although we do know that its becomming the fastest selling sprts car.

Its up against some stiff competition from Audi with their latest reincarnation of the S5 and the Jaguar XFR models but we are sure it will fare well the British public.

The 2018 look

The new Ford Mustang has a completely new look and features some very exciting innovative and advanced technologies. With regards to the exterior, the headlights are now much smaller and there is the addition of funky LED strip lights. The bumper has also been radically redesigned. With regards to power and performance, the new Mustang will have a 10-speed gearbox, a new exhaust system and an EcoBoost V8 engine. What is most exciting are the new technological advances with this car. The inside of the car is also much improved, including hand-stitched materials, a heated steering wheel and an impressive 12-inch touchscreen that allows users to fully personalise settings.

Great Gifts for Graduations and Milestone Birthdays

Graduation season is here and for many proud parents the ideal gift is a private number plate. This highly personal and memorable gift solution is also an increasingly popular way of celebrating milestone birthdays, such as 18 and 21.

With a bit of creative thinking, their special date or year of birth can be added to the private number plate, such as ANN 95, N21 EMA, R18 BEN etc etc.

Even the most hard-to-please young person has great fun choosing their own personalised car registration. But one of the great things about personalised number plates as a gift for young people is that they don't even have to already own a car!
Cherished number plates can be kept until they "do" own a vehicle, and transferred to all cars in the future. It means they can last a lifetime and it makes them a gift that keeps on giving. Registrations are special gift and tend to be sentimental to their owners as its also a great way to be remembered by.

Young people and their cars

At one time, the car itself was the ultimate gift for young people leaving college or university or celebrating their 'coming of age'. However, these days many students work part-time jobs and already have their own wheels.
Millennials – also known as Generation Y – also know that learning to drive and getting cars can open-up far more job opportunities. This means this age group either buy or save up for vehicles as quickly as possible.
But of course, 17-24 year olds are the age group most likely to buy second hand vehicles rather than new cars. This makes private number plates even more attractive. It means they can put their own identity on a car, after probably being restricted on make, model and colour choices due to financial constraints.

Quick gift

If you or someone in your family has a graduation or key birthday coming up, don't be put off if the date is just around the corner. We can quickly help you to find just the right personalised number plate for your special gift, and most registration transfers take as little as 10 days once we have the right documentation and payment. We also offer low rate finance on all purchases over £250 so you can spread the cost up to 3 years if you wish.

We have millions of combinations to suit all important birthdays such as 17,18,21,40,50, 60, 70 and 80. And even if its for a 90th or 100th birthday we can arrange that too. Cheap personalised number plates are an appropriate and welcome present for all ages!

Electric cars are about to take off

Could electric cars finally be about to shed lingering performance and image issues thanks to new technology, falling battery prices and fevered competition between car makers?

Demand for plug in vehicles looks set for strong growth in the coming months, as the public begins to realise just how much more choice they have in selecting models. This runs alongside the work to provide better public recharging availability.

The industry also received a welcome boost when the government announced that its Plug-in Car Grant (PiCG) had been extended, and would be available until the end of March 2018. Pundits believe that over 100,000 UK motorists will benefit from the £400 million fund.

Electric cars are the future

However, many believe that the driving force for the shift in public perception is the new stable of electric cars about to hit the market, offering owners something really classy to add their personalised number plates to.

Plug in vehicles are about to become cheaper and even more attractive to look at, meaning California based Tesla will soon have serious competition.
Car manufacturers have realised that producing viable electric vehicles is not just about being compliant to environmental regulation, it's also a way of maintaining brand relevance and carving new market USPs.

Among the models that could race to the front of this sector of the car market in the coming months is the next-generation Nissan. The car firm came early to the game when it announced at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show that it was developing a 60 kilowatt-hour electric car that uses an Intelligent Driving System. But the Nissan Leaf is believed to be just the starting point and a leading-edge model is expected to be unveiled in 2018.

There is also much talk of luxury brands creating plug in cars. This took a step forward with the Jaguar I-Pace, a beautiful vehicle to add your cherished number plates to. This all electric car made its debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. It comes loaded with 400 horsepower and a 90 kilowatt-hour battery pack. Production is expected to begin in earnest this year.
Making your electric car your own

Clearly the market for second hand electric cars will only start to pick up some time after the wave of new models hits showrooms. Meanwhile, to be part of the trend, you will need to snap up the new cars. The good news is, adding a new personalised car registration doesn't need to be at shocking prices.
